I am a board-certified psychiatrist practicing privately in the Washington DC area since 2017. The character of my practice is a product of my experience in both medical and psychological psychiatry. I work collaboratively with the patient to uncover what is not obvious and make corrections to psychic structures that may be causing internal or external conflict. I do this by investigating a person’s psychology, understanding their neurobiology and making use of pharmacology when needed. Through this process I have witnessed remarkable changes in people's mood states, trauma experiences, anxieties and general satisfaction in life.

Issues I treat include: depression and anxiety, self and interpersonal difficulties, grief and loss, work and career concerns, stress management, attention and concentration difficulties, sexual issues, trauma, low self-esteem and assertiveness, anger and irritability, bipolar and other mood disorders, complex psychiatric issues related to other medical disorders, physical symptoms without known cause, post-traumatic stress disorder (including Military related), traumatic brain injury, etc.

Each treatment starts with a 60-minute initial evaluation appointment. I treat patients with psychotherapy and/or medication—and refer patients if other forms of treatments are indicated. Psychotherapy treatment consists of 45-minute appointments, at least once a week. Medication only appointments are 25 minutes, at time intervals determined by need.

I do not work as an empaneled provider to any insurance company and do not participate in Medicare. Therefore, appointments will be considered out-of-network for insurance reimbursement. Patients will be provided with a billing statement with diagnosis and procedure codes that they can submit to their insurance company.
Background
Prior to working in private practice, I served as the head of behavioral health at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, an institute specializing in traumatic brain injury (TBI). During this time, I managed the inpatient TBI consultation service and worked on the psychiatric consultation service at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Concurrently, I pursued studies in psychoanalysis at the Washington Baltimore Center for Psychoanalysis.

My clinical background spans a diverse range of cases, from general psychiatric concerns to complex medical and psychiatric issues stemming from trauma, including those from war, abuse, or accidents. I have experience with varying severities of traumatic brain injuries, delirium, psychosomatic manifestations, oncology patients, geriatric patients, as well as emergency room and ICU cases. Prior to my clinical work, I conducted neuroscience research at the National Institute of Health and completed psychiatric residency training at The George Washington University.

My educational background includes a medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, a master's degree in neurobiology from The University of Texas San Antonio, and a bachelor's degree in molecular and cellular biology from Texas A&M University.
